The What Works Learning Together Fund was launched in May 2021 to promote increased understanding and use of evidence-informed approaches to prevention and early intervention services for children, young people and their families. 27 different projects from community and voluntary sectororganisations across Ireland received once-off funding.
Successful grant holders recorded and submitted videos to What Works to share their progress.
1. Dóchas Family Centre secured What Works funding to participate in a Trauma-Informed Practice Training Programme delivered by Quality Matters. This training package is aimed at frontline workers and helps them to understand what causes trauma, and what it means for practice in children and young people’s services. Watch the video here.
2. The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre used funding from What Works to develop their Youth Programme’s Education Portal. The Portal includes programmes and resources on themes such as healthy relationships, communication and consent. It can be accessed by educators and others working with children and young people. 3. “Facilitating Non Violent Resistance Remotely” was the title of a training programme adapted and developed by the ISPCC, aimed at professionals working with families in Ireland. Watch the video here.
4. Hillstreet Family Resource Centre developed an implementation manual for their ‘Preparation for Preschool Programme’, aimed at organisations interested in delivering this programme. Watch the video here.
