Easy access to data and evidence about what works in improving children’s lives is only part of the jigsaw. It is the start of a conversation, not the end.

People and services working to improve children and young people’s lives need skills, knowledge and tools to interrogate the data and evidence. Professional judgement, experience and practice wisdom is central to understanding the story behind the data and evidence.

The What Works Initiative supports professional development and ensures that key groups working with children, young people and families know what works, how it works and will apply an evidence informed approach to their work.
